Ariel and Eric's eyes met across the room, er, ocean, and it was love at first sight. When was the last time that happened to you? If you say last week, get off of my blog.
Last night, as I was embarking on Teresa's three day Rick's binge, I got hit on. This isn't new. I'm an ice queen, so get away from me, I don't want to make romantic eye contact with you while you're sipping on Bud Light. You can't even choose a decent drink while making googley eyes at me. Being picked up in a bar does not appeal to me. I knew I should have worn jeans.
Never, ever wear a skirt when your legs are 4' long and you don't want to get hit on. Rule of thumb.
A 53-year-old man, in a pastel yellow sweater vest, with solid white hair told me last night "I used to know a Brooke Shields. You're better looking." I swooned, let me tell you. He then ordered us a plate of oysters on the half-shell. Yes, I ate them. I love oysters.
That was not very vegan of me. Poor little oysters.
Back off.
I just wrote a blog on Monday about communication and how face-to-face communication is important and how Robert speaks through facial expressions and Daniel likes architecture and cake bites. Read it: My Racing Thoughts.
I understand that sometimes phone conversations happen. Sometimes. It's very rare. So what else do we do? Oh yes, we text each other. Sometimes, we even email each other.
If I'm at work and I want to talk to Dara, I text her. Chase - text him. Rachel - I email her, text her or go downstairs (bad example). Robert - text and email. John - text. Mom - text (I need to call my mom).
You see my point. During the working hours of the day, it's all about electronic communication. But for the love of cake, Great Oden's Raven, there is a limitation. Between the hours of 8:00 am and 5:00 pm, Monday-Friday, I have a job.
If you text me between those hours, or really at any point during the week, and I do not automatically respond - it's OK. Why? Because one of three things happened:
- I didn't see it because I'm working/busy.
- I saw it and thought "Well that's rhetorical."
- I saw it and made a mental note to get back to you. I have the memory of an elephant, I'll remember.
If you have the time to constantly text during the work week, and you have an 8-5 job, I have to question your work ethic. I don't want to have to do that.
My phone is flashing at me right now and I'm not going to look at it, because I'm busy - writing a blog. And you know what, I'm getting hungry so I'll go to lunch and I don't want to text you - whoever you are.
Listen, I've completed everything I needed to today in the most timely of manners and it's legit. Don't get snarky with my work ethic. Blogging is work.
I apologize for not be connected to my phone. I apologize for sometimes leaving my phone on silent and in the other room. I'm sorry that I have not formed calluses on my thumbs from using my phone so much.
No. No I am not.
I challenge you to this: Phone Stacking
Sorry I'm so snarky.
Remember, I love you.
