Nobody Puts Baby In The Corner

You thought this was going to be a tribute to Jennifer Grey and Patrick Swayze didn't you?  Wrong.

We all have those Baby moments.  We're the odd man out and we've been placed in the corner - figuratively speaking.  Sometimes, it's OK to feel that way.  It's lonely when you're lonely.

Last week, I wrote (with a dry erase marker, mind you) Psalm 138:8 and Hebrews 12:1 on my bathroom mirror.  A month or so ago, I wrote "You are a beautiful cupcake in a world of muffins" on my full-length mirror and "Be Still" on the mirror above my dresser.  I obviously enjoy mirrors.  I have a dry erase board Dara made for me.  It's Alice in Wonderland and it says "Brooke's Impossible Things."  I write my impossible things on there.

Why sometimes, I've thought of as many as six impossible things before breakfast.

I say this because I think it's so important for you to know that God did not create us to go at it alone.  He did not make this world, this life, impossible.  There is no such thing as an impossible thing.

Simply impassible.  You mean impossible.  No, nothing's impossible.

God has designed a trail, a race.  On this trail, there are checkpoints, there are obstacles, there are bananas, pickle juice and Gatorade along the way in case your calves start cramping up.  Sorry, I'm a runner.  He set up this race that we are to run, with perseverance, against ourselves.  We're not here to compete against each other, because all of our races end at different times.  Each has a separate finish line.

Along the way, we come to a fork - the narrow path and the wide path.  You decide which is best for you.  The wide path is easy, you see a lot of other runners choosing it.  The narrow path - not so much. That's the whole predestination thing and I'm not going on a Romans kick today.

You meet people along the way, usually at a checkpoint sipping on Gatorade.  Then you decide to run your separate paths together - someone to help you along the way.  A companion.

It's life.  It's endurance.  It's not an impossible race.  You will finish it one way or another.  It's a plan that we should embrace.

God molded you, he molded your plan, he won't abandon you or put you in the corner.  He'll cover the potholes in the road or he'll make new ones.  Whatever suits His fancy.  He'll be with you along the way, and he'll be at the finish line.  He never moves, he's never shaken.

I know this is a bunch of rambling, but it is what it is.

I challenge you to find something that you deem "impossible" and do it.  Embrace it and when you're done, eat a banana.  It's just one more checkpoint.

You are beautiful.  I love you.  No matter who you are, or what you've done, what you do or what you believe - God loves you too.
