I'd Like To Think I Can Cheat It All

Hi, my name is Brooke and I like change.  Obviously.  This one time, I tried to move to Alaska.  It worked for a little bit.  Then I came back to Texas.  I didn't want to live in Tyler because I was still wanting change.  Then, after some prayer, some anger, this one time I punched a wall, and some friends, I decided I do want to move back to Tyler.  I did not punch my friends.  I wanted to change the sequence of that, but it's funny.

This past weekend, was the best weekend I have had since before I moved to Alaska.  Don't get me wrong, I had a lot of fun in Alaska, but I should have done more and had more fun than I did.  I deserved more.  It's not always about doing something adventurous.  It's not always about getting out there and doing something different.  I didn't do anything different this past weekend than I did on weekends a year ago, but that's why I liked it so much. It was comfortable.  It was what I enjoy.  My weekend was consumed with my favorite people while enjoying some of my favorite things.

Let's reflect:

Friday.  I was in a bad mood on Friday.  I was probably in my worst of moods.  And then Friday evening happened.
Don't they look like the Jonas Brothers about to do a poolside acoustic show?  Presh.  Andrea and Johnathan had all of us over for a cookout and some praise and worship.  I learned that turkeys drown in the rain.  Yes, ladies who were in that conversation, I Googled it later.  It's half true.  Sadly, half true is true enough for me to consider turkeys to be morons.  Perfection.

Saturday, I woke up earlier than I got the required amount of sleep for.  It's OK, because I got Starbucks and got to see Robert do the Rose City Triathlon.  I love that.  I would have much rather been competing in it, but I love seeing people of all ages, shapes and sizes, being involved in fitness.  And of course, I enjoy cheering on Robert because I know when he's done he'll say, "Eh, I could have done better."  And it's my motive to say, "but you did it and I thought it was great..."
Stud.
He has a blister on his foot that is more than a flesh wound.  You can see the inside of his foot.  It's fantastically horrible.  Saturday afternoon, we had a beer and watched the A&M/SMU game.  We left once we felt comfortable with the Aggies lead.  Really, you can never be truly comfortable with an Aggie lead.  We left and went to my Starbucks, which is too hip for Robert, but we got a free jam session while there.  And it was fun.  It was perfection.

I left to pick up Dara.  She and I had dinner and then were later met by our dear Cris.  If only Robbie had joined us, it would have been near perfection.  There's a server at OTB named Brian.  Avoid his section at all costs.  We got his section once back in March.  We've never been the same and every time we're there, he happens to be working.  He also always happens upon us, and checks out Dara's rack.

I spent all day Sunday with Kristen and Lauren.  Lauren is going to pop next month.  Pop as in a baby is going to come out.  Baby Faith.  I don't think her cats are going to be too thrilled when Faith shows up.
Stud cat.
We went to Babies "R" Us.  Babies "R" Us is the most uncomfortable place for non-mothers.  It's even more uncomfortable for single non-mothers.  At least for me.  I mean, jeez, babies need a lot or product marketing has made us believe that babies need a lot.  Damn you, society.  Kristen was buying baby Faith some clothes, and the cashier asked her if she had a membership card.  Kristen's only response was "I don't belong here." The cashier then proceeded to ask me.  I just laughed and pointed at Lauren.  Why don't you ask the pregnant lady.

I then met Chase and he planned out my future, again.  I bet if I had gone by one of Chase's future plans for me, I'd be more than mildly successful by now.  Oh well, I'm doing alright.  Dara joined us, we played rummy, and you know what - that was my weekend.  It was perfection.

And I enjoyed every second of it.  I enjoyed it so much, that I'm trying to find a job in Tyler.  I have an interview at an actual advertising agency on Monday.  No, it's not where I used to work.  I still want to keep some change going.
