Bad Relationships And The Zombie Apocalypse.

This is not about relationships.  We're using that as a metaphor.  If you are seeking advice on bad relationships, this probably won't help you.  If it does help you, you're sick.
I am embarrassed to say that I have been watching "The Walking Dead."  I just finished season two, and I have to wait until Sunday night for season three to start.  "The Walking Dead" goes against all of my beliefs.

  1. I do not believe in a Zombie Apocalypse.  That's ridiculous.
  2. I am highly annoyed by all things about zombies.  At first it was funny.  It's annoying now.  "Zombieland" is different.  Bill Murray is in that.
  3. I can't believe there are Zombie Apocalypse survival guides.  I can't believe there are some people who take it seriously.
  4. I feel like the entertainment industry - books, movies, television - has turned to vampires and zombies.  This is sad.
Even though I have those points on my feelings about zombies, I can't stop watching "The Walking Dead."  I had no desire to watch this show.  I know people who say it's great and amazing, but I still had no desire.  Then one day, Kristen's husband said, "Let's watch 'The Walking Dead.'"  And I, without thinking about it said, "Yes."

Here's how I feel about this show:
Unnecessary.  This show is entirely unnecessary.  This show is disgusting.  Absolutely disgusting.  I watch this show with my hands up trying to block my view from the TV while I say explicit words.  It's so gross.  And the disgust is entirely unnecessary.  At least 90% of it is unnecessary.  I mean, I get it.  I understand that you don't want to shoot the zombies because the sound from the gun might attract more zombies.  So hey, let's hack at them with whatever - screwdrivers, shovels, axes, machetes, knives.  I get it.  You have to take care of business.  However, is it necessary to show it?  Is is necessary to show it over and over?  I'm OK with watching Rick and Shane take their first hack at the zombie, but I don't need to see the five hacks that come after it.

I have seen zombie skulls crushed in.  Why, yesterday, I saw a zombie split in half and watched the bottom half of his body and intestines fall off into a well while the top half and intestines stayed above ground.  I did not want to see that.

But I saw it, and I keep coming back for more.  It's like a bad relationship.  I don't enjoy it.  I hate it, actually.  But I am so intrigued with what is going to happen next.  I need to know how this is going to work out, and I am willing to sacrifice my beliefs to get to the endpoint.  I'm willing to lay myself down to know how this apocalypse is going to end.  I feel like if I keep going, if I stick with it, something good is bound to happen to turn this all around.

I don't even like watching TV.  The story lines are great.  The characters are great.  I just can't get over how disgusting it is.  I keep watching.

Another thing.  Let's, for just a moment, assume there will be a Zombie Apocalypse.  There are two options to get to the only, ultimate option.
  1. You can run and try to survive as along as possible and wait until you die of let's say "natural causes."
  2. You can just let it happen.
In case of a Zombie Apocalypse, I'm going to survive for as long as possible.  After a certain amount of time, once I realize my imminent death, I'm going to turn to my group and say "let's just let it happen."  Think about it.  If you just let it happen, the worst case scenario is going to occur: you become a zombie.  So what?  I don't see a huge issue with this.

Sure, you suffer in order to become a zombie, but after that you're just like everybody else.  You're technically alive, no one can talk, it's just a bunch of moaning, you don't really know what's going on, and you're hungry a lot.  If everyone would just let is happen, problem solved.  Eventually the animal population will fall off and the zombies will die.

Which really just brings us to the ultimate option: The end of the world.

Think about it, you guys.  If you are stuck in a group with me during the Zombie Apocalypse, you know what's going to go down.  So really, I'm preparing all of you.

This got morbid.  See what this show has done to me.  Who else is ready for Sunday when season three starts?  I also realize I have decided Zombie Apocalypse is a proper noun.

I'm going to go watch something about rainbows and butterflies to even all of this out.
