Psalms 67

I don't think my relationship with Robert will ever be the same after last Friday when he uttered the words:

"I listened to The Civil Wars new album.  Eh..."

Said in the house I live in while eating food I cooked.  The nerve.  The audacity.  He said it and Dara said "Get out."  Friendship canceled.

In other news, we're trying to think up a name for a website he'd like to create.  It will pretty much be a list of races in the Tyler area.  My name "On Pines & Needles" probably won't make the cut.  Get it, though?  We're running on pines and needles -- the piney woods of East Texas -- pins and needles?

Work with me.  I'm too embarrassed to say that suggestion out loud, so if you read this, next time you see me wink once if it's good, wink twice if I'm an idiot, wink three times if you have a twitch.

I just thought of one.

I Digress.

I've had a stirring in my heart over the past couple of months.  I'm not exactly sure what it is that's being stirred up, but I'm definitely not against the feeling.  Sometimes I think God asks me "What the heck are you doing with your life?" and I respond, "I don't know.  What are you doing with it?"

Then He slaps me back down to the human being that I am.

I don't believe God is stirring up in me to go out to another country for an extended period of time.  Don't worry you guys.  I do believe that He calls me to go into short-term missions head first wearing His armor and ready for battle.  I believe I am called to get my hands dirty and experience spiritual warfare.

But that's not what is stirring in me right now.  I love my community.  I love the town I live and work in.  I love my church and young adults group.  I'm about going out and planting seeds elsewhere, and coming back home and seeing things through.

I want to see my community grow and change.

Something about Tyler is stirring in my heart.  I just don't know the details.  I know I pray Psalms 67 time and time again.  "May the nations praise you, O God, may all the nations praise you..." I think we forget that where we are from, where we live, is part of "the nations."

I feel called to my community for the long term.  I feel called to other nations for the initial impact.

I just don't know the details of how God is going to do this.  Stay tuned.
