This is a Filler Blog

Hi you guys.  It's been a while.  A little refresher: I'm Laura. I go by Brooke.  That was my parents' idea.  Stop asking me why I go by Brooke.  Ask my parents.

Now you're caught up on the "about me" portion.

It's that time of year when running in the evenings requires a headlamp and reflective gear.  No one likes to go through all that trouble just to go for a run.  No one as in me.  It's this time of year when I really reflect on and evaluate my life decisions.  Life decisions as in working out outside.

It's "No Shave November."  I want to throw chewed gum and honey at guys' faces so they have no choice but to turn back.  I resist the temptation because I've really been working hard on this compassion and niceness thing over the last few months.

I'm a different age now than I was during my last blog post.  Ask me about my taste in music to determine my age.  I'm surprised I haven't dropped my life and moved into a tent in the mountains, but it could still happen at this juncture in my life.  It would be a waste of red lipstick, though.  No one would ever see it.  Perspective, right?

October finished out rather nicely, as it usually does, and November has so far not disappointed.  Stop complaining about the time change.  It happens every year and you've had two days to adjust to an hour time change.  It's all going to be OK.  I sleep like a hibernating bear this time of year.  It's the best.

There is no candy corn or those candy corn type pumpkins left in this town.  I searched high and low on Sunday (I went to three stores and gave up).   I'm the worst friend.  Throwing Kristen a baby shower and I had grand, beautiful, and creative food plans for her pumpkin themed shower.  Now I have to order candy corn off of Amazon like a psychopath.

Aside from the candy corn/candy pumpkin debachle of 2013, I've had a good last couple of weeks.

Chase, Dara, and I finally finished our scary movies on Sunday night.  We had the grand plan to watch all four of the scary movies we picked out in one day, but no one has time for that.  We spread it out over five weeks.  It took that long.  However, now we've accomplished it, and I feel good about finishing.  Go us!

I finally had a weekend of no obligations.  It was amazing.  I got to run all the errands Saturday morning.  I got to really focus on cleaning on Saturday afternoon.  It was needed -- there was a lot of confetti, rice, and glitter floating around the house after Halloween.  I think there was glitter in my contact lenses all day Friday.   My Saturday night was very enjoyable.  I love a successful Saturday.  Feels good.

I witnessed Chase learn that once you go iPhone iOS7, you can't go back to anything but.  He upgraded to a Samsung Note (whatever that tablet-size phone is) on Friday.  On Saturday, he took it back and got another iPhone.  I was there for moral support because the only iPhone they had in stock was the gold one - The Bro Phone. *fist pump*

So yeah, Halloween, I went to Rocky Horror Picture Show at Times Square.  I don't care what people say: You don't like that movie.  If someone says "that's my favorite musical, I love it!" they're lying.  They love going to see it because it's interactive.  You love being at a theater and shouting obscenities at the screen and throwing toast and rice, using water guns, dancing in the aisles, etc..  That movie makes zero sense whatsoever.  It's ridiculous.  It's actually kind of terrible.

Yeah.  I said it.  But it's still a blast.

Halloween also marked 5 years cancer free for Robert.  It warms my heart and makes me super excited.  Congrats!  That is awesome, my friend.  Go give some blood first chance you get.

On my birthday, I didn't go into work.  I purposely backed into that sentence.  You know birthdays mean less and less to you when all you want is to not have to go to work.  That's exactly what I did.

And that is the last week of my life.  I can't remember the details because I've slept since then.  I also started watching The Following and I can't comprehend much of anything anymore.

Also, this happened today.

It did not dawn on me until after the fact that today is November 5.  So when I look out of my window and see a couple of people in black hoodies and white masks on the square, I immediately assume the worst.  I did not put it together until I asked someone.  I've lived here for over six years and this is the first time I've seen this million mask march on the square.  I probably just don't pay attention.

So that's my life in the last week in case you were worried about me.

This was a filler blog.
