I live next to the county judge. He told me that every day, he and his daughter wait for me to walk by so they can see what color my legs are that day. They are different every day. I love tights, and I love jewel tones.
Yesterday, someone asked me, "Brooke, what are you going to do for National Margarita Day?"
So of course I responded, "Look tastier than a margarita."
OK, I wasn't really asked that question, but I do think my outfit was tastier than a margarita. I was asked, "Brooke, why don't you like today's fashion?" Which I replied, "Because it's frumpy."
OK, I wasn't really asked about today's fashion. I'm never asked anything. Do I not look like someone who has a lot on her mind? Someone that wants to be questioned? I have answers for everything.
I don't like today's fashion. I totally get it, I really do, and I look good in it but I don't like it. Nothing is form-fitting. I'm not talking skimpy and tight; I'm talking form-fitting. Clothes these days all resemble curtains. Then you throw a tie-back on it to give it some shape, and call it a day. I get it. I even own a lot of it. Followed by that is a long, hippie skirt. I don't own that. I'm sick of it.
I have legs longer than a traffic jam on I-35 and a stomach flatter than Kansas, so I don't want to wear drapes. Ladies, have respect for your figures.
Those of you who know me, understand that I like to mix and match colors. I'm so happy that color-blocking is in right now. It needs to stick around. Even if it doesn't, I'm still going to do it. This is about what I wore to work yesterday. An outfit that works for any and all occasions - kind of. Maybe not for everyone. This is 2012 meets 1942, and if you need a lesson on when the best fashion existed, study the 1940s.
Seriously. Target! Except for the hair piece. You'll have to ask my friend Kristen where she got me that.
